岩手県釜石市における廃ビルのコンバージョン計画。周囲が公園として整備される予定の敷地に建つ廃ビルを、展望台として活用することを考えました。ビルの周りを大階段がめぐり、途中オフィスやカフェスペースでの活動を目にしながら屋上へと上ることができます。普段は公園の東屋として市民のコミュニケーションスペースになり、災害時には多くの人が一堂に会せる利点を活かし防災拠点として機能します。住宅地の公園内という立地と、先刻の地震でも耐えた頑丈な構造を活かしたコンバージョンの提案です。

 

This is a conversion project of a abandoned building in Kamaishi, Iwate prefecture. The site(abandoned building) is surrounded by park preparation land, our proposal is to reuse this building as an observatory. Connecting each floor by big stair case, people may wander from ground floor to the roof top, programs like cafe shop or offices were set in-between the circulation. Normally pergola’s (small structure, shelter )in the park are the local communication spaces, when disaster strikes, these pergolas became meeting space and prevention area. Since the building is located in a residential area park, the structure is quake-resistant as well, so we had this conversion proposal for the existing building.
